The town of Cres during the summer months provides everything you need for an enjoyable holiday, from diverse entertainment to various excursions. It is located on the west side of the island, in the gulf, and is therefore protected from the wind. It is also called a historic town with a Venetian charm, and many cultural monuments stand as proof of its diversity. The old town is surrounded by walls with five towers, which are also the symbol of the city. Some of the more interesting landmarks of the town are: the Benedictine monastery from the fifteenth century, the Church of St. Isidore from the twelfth-century, church of St. Mary, and several churches that belong to the Renaissance and Gothic era. More detailed information about the historical importance of the city, see here. The town of Cres also offers many tourist boats trips and organizes festivals almost on a daily basis in the streets and squares. For the younger generations fun is guaranteed in the town’s disco club. For fine dining we recommend several restaurants (Ulika, Marina, Luna rossa) where you can taste the authentic dishes of the city. The city also offers sports activities, sailing, tennis or basketball and has its own soccer club. You can find accommodation in private houses, apartments, hotels or nearby camps.
